Weavers from Bihar will now showcase their products like shirts, kurtas, dhotis, trousers and towels on Amazon India, which signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bihar State Khadi and Village Industries Board last week. The MoU will cover around 80 weaver societies registered with the board. The arrangement is the first of its kind in the state.
A year ago, Amazon had entered into a similar arrangement with the Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board.

He has been heading Chanel since 1983, but missed the French luxury fashion house’s haute couture shows in Paris last month. Holiday retail sales during 2018 in US grew a lower-than-expected 2.9 per cent over the same period in 2017 to $707.5 billion, said the National Retail Federation (NRF). The numbers fell short of NRF’s forecast last fall that holiday sales from November 1 through December 31 would grow between 4.3-4.8 per cent to between $717.45-$720.89 billion.

The West Bengal government has urged jute mill owners and workers' trade unions in the state for a tripartite meeting to resolve the dispute between both sides, as the latter have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from March 1 over their unfulfilled demands. A notice by the labour department invited the unions to discuss their demands on February 18.
The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on February 14, according to a news agency report.
