The world’s biggest footwear park will be developed at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district of India’s Haryana state, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced recently after inaugurating a skill development and quality control centre at the footwear park in Bahadurgarh. The MG Community Skill Development & Training Centre in Oyan village in East Siang district of India’s north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh has been recognized by the Silk Mark Organisation of India under the Central Silk Board (CSB) of the ministry of textiles. The centre can now use the ‘silk mark’ on its 100 per cent natural clothes.

The Indian textiles and apparel industry is showing signs of recovery after a difficult period, according to the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI). Textile and apparel exports stood at ₹20,353 crore during October 2018 as compared to ₹14,779 crore during the same month of the last year, showing an impressive growth of 38 per cent.
