To provide a boost to manufacturing, the Government of India has doubled import duty on 328 textile products to 20 per cent from the earlier 10 per cent. India’s Karnataka state cabinet will constitute a sub-committee chaired by chief minister HD Kumaraswamy to decide on offering a special incentive package to the industry. The sub-committee will have the ministers for industries, small scale industries and revenue as its members, according to state law and parliamentary affairs minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
