The minimum wage board formed for the cotton textile sector has finalised its recommendations, setting Tk5,710 as gross monthly pay for the sector workers.Currently, the minimum wage for the textile sector workers is Tk3,302 set in 2011.
The wage board published the proposal along with other recommendations in a gazette notification on January 24 seeking, if there is any, written objections against or suggestions on the recommendation in 14 days.

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has reported textile export numbers for the month of December 2017, wherein textile exports have risen 10 percent to $1.13 billion from $1.03 billion in same period of last year.
Most of the impetus came from the value-added segment , which rose 12 percent to clock in at $840m, while basic textile segment followed with a more modest 4 percent increment to reach $292m.
