According to provisional figures provided by India’s Office of Textile Commissioner, staple fibre production amounted to 923.85 million kg in 2017 up to August, down 0.5% relative to 928.73 million kg produced during the same period the year before.
Within the month of August, an additional 140.89 million kg of staple fibre were produced in India, up 17% relative to 120.43 million kg during the same month the year before, and up 17.6% relative to 119.85 million kg produced in July.
