Export earnings from the Turkey market dropped by 19.50 per cent to $581.25 million in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year due to a devaluation of the euro as well as the Turkish currency lira, dashing the exporters’ hope of getting another billion-dollar-market.

According to China Cotton Association, the cotton import price continued to grow in this March amid a declining import quantity, both saw further decrease year-on-year.
Figures from the General Administration of Customs show that China imported 129,000 tons of cotton in March, down 31,100 tons or 19.6% from February and 42.4% from a year earlier. The import price stood at US$ 1,732/ton, rising US$ 34/ton or 2% from February, but down 16% from a year earlier.

Thirty-five per cent of the readymade garment factories in the country lack first aid facility and required equipment for the purpose, according to a recent survey conducted by the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments.
The survey conducted in 643 apparel factories in the January-March period found that 67 per cent of the factories did not serve accident-related notice while 46 per cent of them did not maintain safety record books and safety boards.

Two textiles firms in Swaziland are expected to create 800 jobs in the country soon to combat joblessness, one of the country’s leading newspaper has said.
The announcement was made by the Swaziland Investments Promotions Authority (SIPA) CEO Phumelele Dlamini in Mbabane.
